I see that you can order one for the type 6 but don't know if it will work. Any help would be appreciated. So I would think that the type 6 carrying handle would not line up with the screw holes on the the type 5. Just my thinking.

-WJA I've checked the voltage and continuity of my cord and that which the switch is closed, current is making it's way through the switch. I also tested the continuity of the field, wire end to brush holder receptacle. I think one of the brush holders has a bad connection. I can tell if I broke the connection to the holder when I removed the holder or not.needless to say I have ordered two more holder kits (with new brushes). Now to the question. When I replaced the field and bolted back up to the handle.(brush holders still not installed). Is this because I don't have the brush holders and brushes installed yet. The blade used to spin freely by hand before I started tinkering. Just want to make sure I don't have something installed backward or mis-alligned, plug in my brushes and ten smoke the thing. Thanks! Hope this helps.Good luck. Tinker The Dewalt miter saw DW705 is the subject of my question. Jim told me the switch was bad, he replaced the switch with something he thought would work. When he plugged it in, it belched a puff of white smoke which alerted him to unplug it. I ordered a replacement switch kit, it came with a different switch and clam shell. I had no problem with the wiring changes the new kit required. I suspect the brake field and the run field were energized simultanously and smoked the break field with the wrong switch he tried to install. I also suspect this isn't a very common occurance seen by repair shops. My question, Is my theory plausible. If the saw works to make a cut, but the brake fails to stop the blade when the switch is released, what are my options to repair it. Hope this made sense! Thanks Have a field ordered, thanks anyway. Good luck with the repair, -WJA They have now come out with a new switch kit for your saw. The problem is that it is on a back order with no delivery date. So keep checking back with us every so often and check our stock. Or you could place one on order and as soon as they come in we will send it to you.

It is part number 5140112-17. The black handle above it is for carrying weight, but all too often we make careless mistakes and try to lift it by the wrong handle. With that said, you're probably reading this because you broke yours too. Mine broke and it had the old style handle and old style trigger. This newer handle fits, but requires a new trigger. While fixing it I almost made the mistake of lifting it by the new handle.

DeWalt should've made this handle load-bearing but they did not. However, I still gave it a 5-star rating because the replacement got the job done. There are many different versions of the DW705 I've come to find out that there are many different versions of DW705, that have used different handles. Look on the DeWalt sticker that has the Model Number, Serial Number, etc. This same tag also has a TYPE version as well.pay attention to MODEL and TYPE then cross reference that with the ereplacementparts website before ordering. The material is more flimsy than the original handle but the fit and finish are good and once completely bolted together it is relatively sturdy and fully functional. It was a perfect match except for a bit of excess, a plastic tab holding the cord in place at its entrance to the handle. This was easy enough to trim. Thank you!Oh crap! But this pieces fit perfectly snd install took all of 15 minutes. It doesn’t come with any screws or other dc or brackets so make sure you save them from the broken handle. And a good price compared to Dewalt original or othe OEM dealersI was so relieved to know I could replace this and instead of throwing away the saw. Took about 40 minutes Make sure you get the new switch that goes with it it is slightly different than the original and the old switch does not fit wellLong trigger and a short trigger pull. So you have to make sure you get the right style.Had to make a couple modifications to fit my trigger button as it didn’t fit at all Not sure what was different but the model and part number matches. There was some sort of plug issue with my saw but thankfully it sorted out quickly. I got this saw from this video recommendation. Not always the easiest of jobs. You might have to change the link arm that moves the guard up. They get bent over time. Check other parts on the raise and lower assy for wear at the same time.DO NOT disassemble the guard, just loosen bolt and move out away from blade also you need to have the head in the raised position. You only need to worry if you see a lot of sparks flying out of the motor compartment. Most power tools will spark inside the motor compartment (particularly if carbon brushes are used). Bevel and miter could be off. Consult your manual for how to adjust these correctly, but usually the bevel has a 0-degree setting screw or adjustment, and the miter adjustment on the saw is usually done by altering the fence position. Again check your manual for specifics on your saw. Hitachi C8FS Turntable will not lock in position. Have stripped it down, cleaned and lubricated it, but cannot see how the lock is meant to work.
